Mary Mary, Quite Contrary
Have fun making this fun and funky nursery rhyme blanket for the little contrary Mary in your life! Block by block these vibrant colors and soft yarns build up a cuddly blanket, big enough to throw over a couch and perfect for a first bed – one chart at a time!
Each square is worked separately and then seamed together once blocked, so is portable and can be tucked into your knitting bag and taken to knit night!
This pattern, along with all my others, is supported on the Ravelry Group ‘Shoediva Originals’. The group is a mix of new and experienced knitters and we’re all very helpful! Come and join in the fun!
YARN
it is entirely possible to knit any of my blankets in any yarn weight you like, as long as you maintain your own gauge for consistent square sizes! However most of my blankets are knit in acrylic worsted, because let’s face it, blankets get plenty of use whether they’re on the floor as a comfy play area for a little one or curled up under watching the tv on a cold winter’s night. Yarns used by test knitters include Red Heart Soft, Bernat Satins, Caron worsted weights and Knit Picks Brava.

Brown, yellow, peach- min yards maybe 2-5 yds of these colors.
SIZE VARIATIONS
Sock yarns will create a lightweight blanket of a small enough size for a child’s crib. Sport or DK should give a young child plenty of blankie to cuddle, and worsted or aran weights will give you a good size throw to cover a bed or drape in the den.
Huge thanks are due to Crystalvisions, who did a wonderful job putting up with me, recording the yarn used, keeping me sane and oh by the way, knitting this BEAUTIFULLY. You ROCK.
