Introducing Mary, Queen of Socks; a toe-up sock inspired by Tudor blackwork embroidery, fit for a queen!

The sock has an unusual construction, with the seam and gusset on the underside of the foot. This minimises the visibility of the seam (and lessens the need for jogless rounds!) while preserving the pattern. The toe-up design has the benefit of allowing you to work the leg as long as your yarn lasts!

There are various sizing options for a perfect bespoke fit:

Foot circumference:

XS - 17-19cm (6.7-7.5in)
S - 19.1–21cm (7.5-8.3in)
M - 21.1–23cm (8.3-9in)
L - 23.1–25cm (9-9.8in)
XL - 25.1-27cm (9.9-10.6in)

Various foot lengths are available in 1cm increments between 21-29cm (8.3-11.4 in).

There is also a mid-calf and ankle version available.

I used Cascade heritage sock yarn but any 4ply yarn will suffice. The mid-calf version uses c. 170 (180, 190, 200, 210) m of each colour.

You will also need 2mm and 2.25mm needles, and 2-3 stitch markers.
