Do you know what’s even better than crocheting authors? Crocheting authors who are holding adorable baby versions of their most famous creations!

My new series of amigurumi patterns kicks off with our beloved Mary Shelley holding a tiny baby Frankenstein, or for short, a Frankenbaby. When finished, Mary Shelley stands about 11.5 inches tall, and her arms are expressly shaped to hold the Frankenbaby and make it feel secure.

This pattern isn’t mad science, or rocket science, or indeed, yarn science. That said, if I were an absolute beginner, I might not choose this for my first ami project. Required stitches include sc, HDC, DC, sl st, and sc2tog, or single crochet decrease. There are exactly three cluster stitches included in the pattern, but they’re explained with photos, so you know, it’s cool. As long as you have a G hook, extras are minimal, including safety eyes (sizes specified in the listing) and roughly 14” of jewelry wire. I used black embroidery thread for her lash line, so if you like that look, you can do the same.
