You need:
Aran (8 wpi; 10 ply; no 4: Medium) yarn in one or two colors 100-120g or 165-185 yards total

The sample is made with Drops Nepal (color 8905) as MC and Katia Gatsby (color 20) yarn in double strands as CC

Crochet hook US H/8 (5 mm) or to obtain gauge 4” x 4” (10 x 10 cm) = 12 sts x 11 rows (in half double crochet)
Tapestry needle, pom-pom maker

Stitches used:
Ch – chain
Sl – slip stitch
St(s) – stitch(es)
Hdc – half double crochet
Hdc2tog - half double crochet two stitches together
Fphdc – front post half double crochet
Bphdc – back post half double crochet
