Mat stitch washcloth
A free version is also available.
• DESCRIPTION:
The Mat Stitch creates a beautiful texture that is mostly solid. It has an almost floral look but is sturdy enough to make a great washcloth.
• GAUGE & SIZING:
3 fans and 9 rows per 4”
8” x 8”
• ABBREVIATIONS & STITCHES USED:
Gauge (tension) isn’t very important in this project. For reference, my gauge is 3 fans and 9 rows per 4”.
Play around with hook sizes until you find one that makes a fabric you like. This pattern is written to produce a washcloth that is roughly 8 inches by 8 inches.
• MATERIALS:
About 60 yards of any #4 cotton or cotton blend. Sample made in Paintbox Cotton Aran in the color Kingfisher Blue.
A 4.0 mm (F) hook
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Stitch markers if desired.
