Matahari
Matahari is a simple brim-up hat perfect for showing off small amounts of handspun or commercial yarn. Shown in two contrasting colors this hat pattern is perfect for both men and women. The construction lends itself to simple color work and striping. It is the perfect summer knitting, just grab some needles/yarn/pattern and head to the ball field or beach. Aran weight (8 WPI) yarn makes it a quick to knit project.
Difficulty: Easy - A knowledge of basic knit stitches and working in the round is needed.
Materials:
Approximately 4 oz of a Handspun Heavy Worsted/Aran Weight 2-ply (approx. 8 WPI)
US 8 (5.0mm) 16in. Circular Knitting Needle
1 Set (5) US 8 (5.0mm) Double Pointed Knitting Needles
Stitch Marker
Tapestry Needle
Tension/Gauge: 14sts and 6 rows = 4 in square in St st
Finished Circumference: 24in.
Finished Length (Brim to Crown): About 7 3/4 in.
Pattern Notes : Stripes are added to give the hat a bit of visual interest but can be omitted if desired. If using 2 colors you will need approximately 2oz of each color. I chose to stripe the hat every 2 rows with a jog.
