A perfect last-minute gift! The Matane mitts are an easy, quick knit. Knit from the hand down to the arm, you can make them as short or as long as you want. If you follow the instructions provided, with approximately 50 g (or 200 yards of yarn), you will have mitts that reach the middle of your forearm.

Instructions for augmentations are provided if, like me, you need a little more room past your wrist.

What you’ll need
at least 50 g or approximately 215 yards of fingering weight yarn
#2 (2.75 mm) circular or double-pointed needles, or the size needed to obtain gauge
Needle to weave in ends
Stitch marker
Facultative: a crochet hook for finishing the thumb hole if you choose that method

Sizing
Small (Medium, Large): 6 (7, 8) inches or 15.25 (17.75, 20.25) centimeters If the size you measured falls between two sizes, use the one below

Matane is the name of a small city in the Gaspé peninsula, in Québec, Canada. It’s located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River and mostly known for its fishery industry.
