This is a pattern for a light weight shawl. It’s heavier than a wedding ring shawl, but just the ideal weight for a spring or fall evening, or even if you’re sensitive to air conditioning in the summer. It knits up fairly quickly and would make the ideal gift, for yourself of someone that’s special to you.
The shawl is made up of a single lace stitch that is both charted and written out line by line. The lace focal stitch looks complicated, but it is easily learned making a perfect pattern for a relatively new knitter that would like to try their hand at lace.
There are also instructions for an optional edging contained within the pattern, should you want it edged.
Skill Level: Beginner + - Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of lace knitting). It is suitable for a beginner with a little bit of lace experience.
The yarn used in the sample is Handmaiden’s Casbah in colorway Tourmaline Light. It requires approximately 1000 yards of yarn and is knit on a size (U.S.) #5 needle (3.75mm.)
The shawl was expertly test knitted Joy Macpherson who can contacted at: Joy.Macpherson@ gmail.com.
