These socks represent a real lighthouse at the Eastern side of the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea looking over towards the English Lake District. It’s a very beautiful and romantic spot with a bench for the weary traveller in amidst fragrant Manx yellow gorse and often visited by friendly local Manx cats (without tails).The lighthouse is perched on a rock well below the visitor point which is higher up on the cliffs, so the view is downwards towards the lighthouse with the sea behind it.

Diese Socken berufen sich auf einen echten Leuchtturm auf der östlichen Seite der Isle of Man in der irischen See mit Blick auf die englische Seenlandschaft gewandt. Es ist ein wunderschöner und romantischer Ort mit einer Sitzbank für Besucher zwischen duftendem, gelbem Ginster und manchmal sogar mit einer Manx-Katze (ohne Schwanz). Der Leuchtturm liegt unterhalb der Klippen, so dass der Ausblick hinunter zum Leuchtturm geht mit dem Meer dahinter.

I apologise to all Manx experts for having taken a bit of artistic licence with respect to the position of the door in relation to stone and water – but on a sock it would have looked awkward having the door at one’s heel!

The instructions for this sock are given as a line-by-line written instruction with a wide range of measurements. The original sock pattern is for ankle socks. An adaptation for extending the pattern to knee-high socks is also attached.

Each sock requires small amounts of DK (11wpi) yarn, i.e. less than 25g of each colour, so it is an ideal project to use up remnant yarns!
