Maurice est un Orang-outan de l’île de Bornéo. Sa forêt a été rasée et il a perdu son habitat. Heureusement, il a été recueilli par une association et a trouvé refuge temporairement dans un verger du Haut-Rhin… Bientôt grâce au travail d’associations comme la WWF et leur programme de restauration forestière il pourra être relâché dans une forêt protégée et retrouver ses congénères.

Vous aurez besoin de savoir réaliser un cercle magique, des mailles serrées, des mailles coulées, des mailles en l’air, crocheter dans le brin arrière uniquement, augmenter, diminuer et changer de couleur.

░ TAILLE ░

Environ 15 cm.
La taille de votre orang-outan peut changer en fonction du fil et du crochet que vous choisissez.

◦ Du fil de la couleur et de l’épaisseur de votre choix. J’ai utilisé du fil de type “DK” :
- Orange - pour le corps (si vous choisissez de brosser votre orang-outan pour lui donner un aspect poilu, je vous
recommande d’utiliser du fil contenant de l’acrylique)

• Marron - pour le visage, les mains et les pieds
• Pour les détails brodés : des restes de noir ◦ Un crochet 3mm (ou un crochet adapté au fil que vous avez choisi) ◦ Une paire de ciseaux ◦ Une aiguille à tapisserie ◦ De la ouate de rembourrage ◦ Un marqueur de rang (ou un morceau de fil d’une couleur contrastante) ◦ Optionnel : Brosse à poil long (brosse pour animaux/chats)

EN - Crochet pattern to make Maurice the orangutan

Maurice is an Orang-utan from Borneo. His forest was destroyed and he lost his habitat. Fortunately, he was taken in by an association and found temporary refuge in an orchard in the Haut-Rhin… Soon, thanks to the work of associations like WWF and their forest restoration program, he will be released in a protected forest and find his fellow creatures.

░ Intermediate level ░

You need to know how to make a magic ring, single crochet, slip stitch, chain, crochet in the front or back loop only, increase, decrease and change colors.

░ Size ░

Approx. 15 cm.
The size of your orangutan may change depending on the yarn and hook you choose.

░ Materials ░

◦ “DK” yarn in the color of your choice.
I used:

• Orange - for the body (if you choose to brush your orangutan to give it a furry look, I recommend using yarn with acrylic in it)
• Brown - for the face, the hands and the feet
• Black (leftovers) - for the embroidered details ◦ 3mm (or a hook that is suitable for the yarn you have chosen) ◦ A pair of scissors ◦ A tapestry needle ◦ Stuffing (fiberfill) ◦ A stitch marker (or a piece of yarn in a contrasting color)

Note: You can use any yarn you wish, just keep in mind that you’ll need to adapt your crochet hook size, and that the finished Amigurumi size will vary.
