Mayan Hot Cocoa Tea Cozy
About 2,000 years ago, the ancient Mayans created what is believed to be the first chocolate beverage. It was a frothy, foamy, sugarless drink with a surprise ingredient: chili pepper. This “xocolatl” was originally served cold, but by the 16th century a hot version had come into being. In the centuries since, it has become the hot cocoa we know and love today. This reversible tea cozy features the Mayan glyph for cocoa combined with the symbol for fire. It will keep a teapot warm, no matter what beverage it holds.
The tea cozy is worked flat from the bottom up in two pieces which are joined with i-cord. The pattern is provided in charted form only.
A matching blanket pattern, Mayan Hot Cocoa Blanket, is available separately or bundled in an ebook.
Skills needed are double-knitting and attached i-cord. Instructions for both techniques are included.
