Mayday Wrist Distaff
This helpful little distaff, named because the early summer heat made me desperate for some help to hold my wool roving while I was spinning, is very quick to make and only uses about 24 yards of worsted-weight cotton. You want to make sure you use a hook one or two sizes smaller than called for on the ball band – you want the gauge a little tight, so the resulting fabric isn’t too floppy. The cotton yarn won’t make your wrist overheat or irritate sensitive skin, so you can spin in comfort even in the hottest summer weather!
