Mayil Shawl
The name of the shawl is derived from the deep and vibrant colour of the Drops yarn. Mayil, translates to Peacock in Malayalam, an Indian language from the state of Kerala (my home state). Don’t you think its an apt name?
Its a very quick make! Once you get a hang of the pattern, the shawl will fly. I have added a tassel at the end for a little bit of drama. But its optional of course.
Yarn: Any heavy fingering / sport weight yarn. The sample uses 6 skeins of Drops Alpaca Mix (including the tassel) 1000 m /1098 yds
Hook: 4mm / US 6
Gauge: 20sts x 11 rows in dc make 4” / 10 cm
Shawl Size: 58 inches x 30 inches / 147x76cm without tassel
Stitches used: Chain, double crochet, dc3tog cluster
Notions: Tapestry needle
The pattern is written in US terminology. Turn after every row. Ch 3 counts as first st.
