I am not a very good crocheter. I try, but I just can’t get a nice even tension, and the motion doesn’t come naturally to me! But, I absolutely adore all the cute crocheted summer bag patterns out there. Since I knew I wouldn’t be crocheting one anytime soon, I decided to figure out how to knit one! Of course, it had to be circular for maximum cuteness, and circles are actually quite simple to make! The decoration is optional, and any yarn can be used for it. The circles are joined using i-cord, which gives it great structure for maintaining the circular shape!
The bags pictured use Wool and the Gang Ra-Ra Raffia and Shiny Ra-Ra Raffia. This is a very unique paper yarn (it looks like raffia ribbon!) so take care when substituting as you may get a fabric without as much structure.
Yarn
Main Color (MC):
- Sm: 75-90 yards (depends on strap length), shown in Shiny Ra-Ra Raffia - Rose Shimmer and Shell White.
- Lg: 273 yards, shown in Ra-Ra Raffia - Desert Palm. The sample shown used every scrap of yarn, so check gauge carefully!
Contrast Color(s) (CC1 &CC2):
- 5 yards of worsted weight yarn. The bags shown used leftovers from the 3 main colors of Ra-Ra Raffia yarn.
