“April Showers bring May Flowers.” And fun ideas for a pretty shawl! But that is a bit long for a pattern title – so when I talked about it with a friend, she came up with “Maypril Shlowers”… She was joking, but I thought the title perfectly suits my inner nerd. So here you go!

About the pattern:

Maypril Shlowers was inspired by the lovely bloom in my front yard this spring – it is a semi-circular shawl, featuring some pretty slip stitches which reminded me of vines and petals. The pattern level is intermediate; it is worked from the top center out, and yarns are carried up the side to avoid as many ends as possible. The border is knitted on perpendicularly at the end.

Materials:

435 yds of fingering weight yarn for the MC,
Plus 105 yards of fingering weight each of 5 other colors.

The sample was made using:
1 skein of Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock (100g / 435 yds) in color ‘Powder Blue’ (MC)
1 Lorna’s Laces String Quintet (127g / 525 yds) in color ‘Melting Pot’: Green (Color A), Yellow (Color B), Orange (Color C), Pink (Color D), Blue (Color E)
2.75mm / US 2- 40” or longer circular needle (or size to obtain gauge)
Stitch Markers, Darning needle

Gauge: 27 sts / 30 rows = 10cm / 4” in stockinette, unblocked
