Every year as Autumn is approaching I get a craving for socks to give my feet some warmth. I want to believe that I AM a sock knitter, even though the truth is I suffer severely from 2nd Sock Syndrome. I therefore decided to find a way to enjoy knitting two socks – one after the other. The result is this pattern – McBraid socks. The name is a playing with words as the sock has a mock cable – or braid – on the side of the foot. It is a simple, easy to learn and satisfying pattern.

I also wanted to try to shape the toe to fit my foot properly and so the sock has a distinct right/left leaning look on the toe. I truly enjoy knitting this mock braid and as it is placed on the outside of the foot it is knitted on different numbers DPNs for right and left sock, meaning the satisfaction of knitting the little neat braid is as fun on the 2nd sock.
