McCree Deconstructed Argyle Socks
McCree was designed exclusively (and named for) my friend/ stylist Toni – he’s awesome, funny, outspoken, honest, and has THE BEST taste in music. By day, he’s an absolute magician when it comes to hair, and by night he tears up the mic at a bunch of local clubs in LA. I could go on and on – ok, one more thing, he has a GORGEOUS, infectious smile – but onto the socks!
For these toe up socks, I wanted to reinterpret a traditional pattern for men’s socks: argyle. Rather than following those conventions stitch by stitch, I came up with a gradually degenerating, deconstructed argyle. It begins normally at the cuff, and becomes more and more fractured and pixelated further down the leg into the instep. I wanted to play with the idea of taking a pattern and turning it into something very unexpected.
I worked hard on McCree not just because I want Toni to rock ‘em, and not just because I want to get the pattern available to you quickly, but also because 100% of the proceeds of the sale of this pattern will go directly to his AIDS Lifecycle ride Summer 2012. Please help my friend make a difference!
