McKenzie Lace Cardigan
Are you looking to knit a stunning garment that will add an air of sophistication to your wardrobe? Are you trying to find a knitting project that will help you flex your knitting muscle a bit? Look no further than the McKenzie Cardigan, which is guaranteed to impress with its delicate and elegant feather lace diamond stitch, flattering V-neckline, and classic ribbing finish. I’ve got a video full tutorial that walks you through the pattern and explains how to knit the sweater.
The feather lace diamond stitch is undoubtedly the most impressive aspect of this pattern, as it creates a unique and eye-catching texture. Even if you’re new to this stitch, I have you covered with detailed instructions on how to make a gauge swatch and read knitting charts, so you can create a fabulously-fitting cardigan that you’ll love to wear.
How It’s Constructed
The cardigan is worked from the bottom up, flat in separate pieces. The back, left and right front panels, and sleeves are knit separately and then seamed together. Be sure to read through all of the instructions first to understand how to modify if needed. You can change the length of the body by adjusting the number of chart repeats. Note that the bigger the size, the more significant the V-neck depth due to the diamond structure of the pattern. Be sure to review sleeve sizing. You can knit any sleeve size based on the circumference and length that makes sense for you.
Size Guide + Measurements
The pullover is written in five sizes, 1 (2, 3, 4, 5), with a finished bust size of 40.5 (45.5, 50.5, 55.5, 60.5) in/101.5 (114, 126.5, 139, 151.5) cm. It is intended to have about 5-10 in/12.5-25.5 cm of positive ease so pick a size that will provide the intended ease or adjust to your desired ease. For example, if you’re a 37 in/94 cm bust, knit a size 2 for about 8.5 in/21.5 cm of positive ease.
