5 Years ago when I got married I promised my mother a certain foto from our bridal reportage. Half a year before my wedding my father passed away and to commemorate my father I asked the Photographer to take a foto of me, my mother and a picture of my father.

When mothersday neared I did not have any Idea what to give her as a present. On the one hand I really wanted to give her a foto on canvas from this particular bridal photo, on the other hand, I was not sure if it would arrive in time.

As a safeguard I started working on this design (ofcourse consulting with my mother every now and then to make sure I was making something she liked). When shopping for yarn I found a beautiful sunflower yellow yarn and since my mother likes yellow I bought two skeins and started working on this project immediately.

The project itself was finished well in time, the bind off however gave me headaches. Each bind off I tried did not result in a bind off I liked and the one I did like, was exactly the one my mother didn’t.

After some persuasion from my side (promising I would rip it apart if she didn’t like the edge), my mother went along and allowed me to do the crochet edge I advised. Later on she admitted that she should have trusted my judgment earlier and that I was right that this crochet edge was the one that enhanced the piece rather then break it.
