Meadows scarf

This quirky scarf is called the Meadows scarf. The uneven patches reminded me of meadows. Don’t ask me why hahaha.
By the way, the working title was the Messy scarf because my family didn’t really understand where I was going with this scarf. At first it just looked ‘messy’ to them.
I love the uneven patches the Summer sock yarn creates. It makes it a unique scarf!
The scarf is worked tip to tip in rows. In the first part you’ll increase on both sides, then comes the middle part, the body, and in the last part you’ll decrease on both sides.
I’ve written the pattern for two sizes, M and L. I like extra long scarves but sometimes it’s just more practical to wear a shorter one. The M size is 184 cm long and the l size is 206 cm long.
You’ll use the Stranded Colourwork technique to divide the scarf in two halves. This technique, which involves leaving the old colour hanging at the back of your work when changing to a new colour, minimizes the ends you need to weave in, making the process smoother and easier.
The pattern is suitable for the adventurous beginner. The only stitches you need to be able to make are the half double crochet and the chain stitch. I’ve made a photo tutorial to make it even easier.
The yarn I used is called Hobbii Summer Sock yarn. It’s a very soft blend of 58% cotton, 38% polyamide, and 4% polyester.
I love multicolored sock yarn. It’s just so much fun to work with.
I’ve made a second version using Wooladdicts Move which is also a sock yarn but one that contains wool. I must say, it looks wonderful!! I suppose you can use any self striping sock yarn to make this scarf!
