Mean Old Crocodile Hat
Happy October!
This crocodile hat is a quick knit--- I can make one in 1-2 days.
Here are some Halloween costume ideas that this hat would work well for:
Peter Pan (captain hook, and the croc with a clock around it’s neck!)
Crocodile Dundee and friend (one year, my husband and I went as this when I was pregnant and I told everyone I was a crocodile who had just eaten someone.)
A note on the yarn--- personally, I prefer a solid color yarn, because the texture on this pattern comes together so nicely, and it’s harder to see in a heathered yarn. However, my local yarn store closed, and with limited selection in superbulky yarn, I bought a yarn flecked with darker color. It actually came together pretty nicely still.
Materials: US size 9 DPNs (4 of them)
Green super bulky yarn, (1-2 skeins)
White or yellow super bulky yarn (for the eyes--- less than half a skein)
Black Yarn (for the pupils-- any scraps will do)
White Yarn for the teeth (I used worsted weight, you can choose a bulkier yarn if you want an extra toothy croc.)
One tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Techniques: Knitting, Purling, Increasing, Decreasing, short rows (don’t worry, this pattern is very forgiving, so don’t feel like your short row skills have to be awesome.) Knitting on DPNs, Knitting in the round, casting off.
