Meander Mitts
Meander Mitts by Irina Dmitrieva
These warm fingerless mitts feature a rich, playful cable texture along the back of the hand, with a fitted gusset for comfort and ease of movement. Mitts are worked in the round from the bottom up, with palm side in plain stockinette.
Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, elasticity, and yardage requirement.
Suggested Yarns: Bare Naked Wools Ginny DK, Stone Soup DK, Kent DK, Confection Sport, Chebris Sport, or Cabecou Sport
Finished Size: 7 inches / 18 cm hand circumference and 9.5 inches / 24 cm length, to fit hands measuring up to 8.5 / 21.5 cm inches around palm. Measurements taken from relaxed fabric after blocking.
Yarn Requirements: 140 yards / 128 m
Gauge:
22 stitches and 28 rnds = 4 inches / 10 cm in stockinette worked in the round with larger needle (unblocked)
Needles: 6US (4.0 mm) or size to obtain correct gauge 4US (3.5 mm) or .5 mm smaller than gauge needle
Note: use needle type of choice; DPNs, a single long circular needle for magic loop, or two shorter circular needles will all work well.
