This is a brioche scarf pattern with a twist - the pattern is entirely randomised by dice rolls and so every scarf will be unique. It is the fourth of the Pathways collection of randomised brioche knits. This is the DK/8ply version, for the 4ply version check my Ravelry store.

A deceptively simple pattern consisting of a four row repeat that makes the knitting almost mindless while the dice-rolling means that swirling pattern changes throughout its length.

Born out of a desire to make the most of those singular beautiful 8ply/DK skeins of yarn that you just accumulate, this scarf uses just one full skein of each of the two colours. 4.5mm needles and brioche knitting gives you a scarf with plenty of length to wrap that is super comfy and squishy. It will drape well to fit anybody.

My final product was roughly 1.9m long and 17cm wide (and I’m a tight knitter), but the length is absolutely customisable. Just stop knitting whenever you want! The width is also customisable, with a section explaining how but it will require some planning and maths.

I’ve included two sets of instructions. One set of instructions are detailed and outlines stitch by stitch, the other set of instructions gives an overview for knitters like me who are impatient and lose track of where I am in a pattern easily.

Also included is an explanation of the basic principle - it should equip you with the understanding of how the pattern works and thus how you can customise the width or pattern!

If you’re a D&D player or just like nice dice like me, now is the time to pull them out and roll it without having to wait for the next session!

The sample knit is done in Little Bird Makes Decadence (55% BFL, 45%silk) yarn in Swainsona and Fork in the Garbage Disposal colourways.
