Knit two-color brioche and enjoy the meandering lines of this top down shawl. The center increase zigs and zags and finally flows into a wavy chevron border. An I-cord bind off neatly finishes the edge. You can achieve the small size with just one skein for each color or create a large size using 2 skeins of each color. For a thicker version, use colorful bits of DK weight yarn and add tassels to the border.

Sizes
Small (Large)
The PDF pattern includes an expanded large size option in addition to the original small size. The original sample in Loop’s 10 is for the small size.

Finished Measurements
66 (84)“ / 168 (213)cm wingspan length, 28 (34)” / 71 (87)cm along center spine. Measurements taken after blocking. The Large size has more pattern repeats before the border.

The DK weight version knit in the small size is larger than the fingering weight version due to the larger gauge. DK version measures 76” / 193cm across the wingspan and 30” / 76cm along the center spine.

Shown in

Fingering Weight Version - Small Size
Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 420yds / 384m per 112g skein), DC - Turquoise
Orkney Angora St. Magnus D.K. (50% Lambswool, 50% Angora; 218yds / 199m per 50g cake), LC - Magical Goose

DK Weight Version - Small Size
A variety of DK weight yarns from Hedgehog Fibres Merino DK, Republic of Wool, Madelinetosh, & Walk Collection. I used all Superwash Merino DK yarns. For the foreground DC side, I used Hedgehog Fibres Merino DK in Artifact, Juniper, and a dark green Potluck color. The background LC side used Hedgehog Fibres Egg Yolk, Wildcard, Poppy, Pucker, & Glacier.

For the striped DK weight version, change colors whenever you like. I gradually faded from light speckles to dark speckles on the front neutral side. I changed colors more frequently on the colorful background adding 3-row color pop stripes for bright accents.

Yardage
DC (dark color or color in the foreground) - 420 (780)yds / 384 (713)m
LC (light color or color in the background) - 400 (730)yds / 366 (668)m

The DK weight version uses a total of approximately 600yds / 549m for the DC foreground and 550yds / 503m for the LC background.
