I have a Box that I fill with knits that anyone can take something from, called the Box of Warm. My family requested that I start adding hand knitted hats, in lieu of ones purchased from the store. I hadn’t really made hats before, but being up for a challenge I got to it. It turned out simple and to go fairly quickly, one can be completed in a weekend, just perfect for filling a Box of Warm.

ETA: Why “Meanie Beanie”?
My husband harassed me the most to make hats. A long time ago, his online moniker was “McMeanie”. He also committed the following(but not limited to) making begging faces, kissy lips while saying “pretty please” and batting his eyelashes while following me around the house throwing yarn balls at me. So once more I called him a “Meanie”…. so for him I named it “Meanie Beanie”
