Medaillons
Medaillons is a half circle shawl, inspired by japanese knitting pattern.
It is worked from the top to the down started with a garter tab.
The knit/purl stitch pattern is worked both sides, however all the lace is worked only on the right side.
The pattern includes some flexibility as to yardage.
Like a fan, the same shape is repeated 16 or 18 times across the width of the shawl. With 16 repeats you will get a semicircular shape, with 18 repeats you will get it a bit wider.
Since I know that there are people who would like a longer shawl,
Medaillons can be expanded to 193 rows.
The depth is sizeable between 169 - 193 rows.
- small 169 rows, about 55-70 cm/ 21,5-27,5xx depth
- middle 181 rows, about 65-80 cm/ 25,5-31,5xx depth
- large 193 rows, about 75-90 cm, 29,5- 35xx depth
Width 140-190 cm / 55-75xx
The size depends on the yarn, needle size and how many rows are knitted.
Yarns: The best results are achieved with a smooth yarn with some structure. Avoid a single ply or any yarn that will hide the stitches. Busy colored yarns with speckles are not suitable for this pattern. It’s suitable for lace to fingering weight.
680m-850m / 745-930yd
Recommended needle size 3-3,5 mm/ US 2-4
Skill Level: Best with some lace knitting experience.
Notions : stitch markers, tapestry needle for finishing, and blocking equipment.
The pattern includes Charts and written instructions.
The pattern is available in english and german.
