This pattern is written in US terminology and is worked without seams.

The hood is unusual in that it is not a large rectangle folded and seamed, resulting in a point at the back of the head. This hood is started in the round for a smooth finish on the back of the head.

The pattern continues with a shawl body that is joined directly to the hood during the first round.
