You should know how to crochet following stitches:
ch (chain), sl st (slip stitch), sc (single crochet), dc (double crochet), hdc (half double crochet), puff stitch.
This pattern includes:
- my love to every single step in creating crochet patterns :)
- step-by-step photo tutorial for triangle motifs and block stitch, used for body;
- schematic;
- written instructions;
- charts. Instructions are given in English language, American terminology.
Crochet hooks:
- 4 sizes: 1.8, 3, 4.25, 5 mm.
Recommended materials:
- little amount/1 mini-cone of Homestead 8/2 Cotton Yarn (100% unmerecerized cotton, yards/pound 3200, lace weight) by Halcyon Yarn in 062 Wine (W), 049 Light Brown (LB), 043 Dark Brown (DB), - 300 (300, 300, 330) g/1 lb cone in 063 Grape (G), 150 (150, 150, 170) g/2 mini-cones in 023 Special Green (SG) colors; yarn may be replaced with size 10 cotton crochet thread for motifs, though mercerized thread 3 strains might be rough for the body. Unmerecerized cotton is much softer and strongly recommended;
- 2 locking stitch markers or safety pins, 33’’ (84 cm) of purple or black ½’’ twill tape to prevent collar from stretching;
- sewing needle, tapestry needle, grape color sewing thread.
Size:
- 35 (37 ¾, 40 ½, 43 ½’’ / 89 (96, 103, 110) cm in bust circumference;
- pullover has a loose shape, with 4 ¾’’ / 12 cm allowance in bust circumference.
Gauge:
- WS, RS triangle motif side, measured without picot, is about 5 1/8’’ (13 cm);
- distance from center of RS triangle to the tip of middle leaf is 2 ¼’’ (5.5 cm);
- distance from WS triangle center to the edge (perpendicular to the side) is 1 3/8’’ (3.5 cm);
- block-stitch: 6 blocks x 11 rows = 4’’ x 4’’ (10 x 10 cm).
Notes:
- Make neck band first.
- Crochet pullover body and sleeves in rounds from bottom up, then connect all at armpit-line and crochet in rounds together up to the neck opening. Make shoulders separately.
- After body is done, sew neck band on the body with a back stitch, overlapping body for about 1 cm. Stitch together neck band RS triangles (with flowers) and WS triangles with a back stitch alone the neck edge.
- Stitch twill tape on WS alone the neck line about ½’’ from the edge to prevent it from stretching.
