The Medleys Shawl is just that—a medley of colors and stitch patterns that keep the hands and eyes interested and excited from cast-on to wearing. Knitted with ever-so-soft lambswool and cashmere yarn, it’s worked in a modular fashion from both ends toward the center. Two triangles join the halves, and the final few stitches come together in the three-needle bind-off.

Finished Size 70” long and 17” wide.

Yarn Simply Shetland Lambswool & Cashmere (87½% Shetland lambswool, 12½% cashmere; 136 yd / 1¾ oz): #004 gaea (blue; A), #200 snow (white; B), #046 lissa (light green; C), and #047 pan (dark green; D), 2 balls each.

Needles Size 8 (5 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Markers (m); stitch holders; tapestry needle.

Gauge 19 sts and 32 rows = 4” in St st; 19 sts and 38 rows in Garter Ridges patt.

Notes

  • This wrap is worked in a modular fashion. First, the two halves are worked from the end to the center. Then, two triangular insets are worked to join the halves. Inset triangles are decreased and the final few stitches are joined with a three-needle bind-off.
  • Slip stitches purlwise with yarn in front except where indicated otherwise.
  • When the contrasting color is unused for only a few rows, carry it up the side of the work and bring it under the main color to begin working with it again. When there are more than 4 rows between color changes, break the yarn at the end of each stripe, leaving a 6” tail.
