This hat pattern was inspired from etcgirl’s suggestion for a Shall We Knit? staff design project to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund (CBCSF) during our WWKIP event. My desire was to design a hat with a cozy snug brim, but still have the body of the hat be slouchy. It was also of interest to combine a bit of colour work with texture, so the Finnish Spike motif was incorporated in the body of the hat.
The hat is sized in Small, Medium and Large. The hat is started with a tubular cast on, followed by a 1-by-1 rib brim worked in the round. The colour work body section is then worked by carrying the yarn at the back of the work to create floats for the Finnish Spike rounds.
