You need to know basic knowledge in chrocheting:

magic ring
single crochet
chain
slip stitch
half double crochet
increase
decrease

Dimensions: With a 2.5 crochet hook the meerkat will be around 7 cm long (without the tail, with the tail it‘s 14 cm), 7 cm wide and 13 cm tall. (Be careful, if you‘re using a crochet hook in a different size, the meerkat will be bigger or smaller.)
There are two options for the body so the dimensions can be a bit different whether you choose the first or the second.
