These socks are a fun way to use up some of your smaller sock scraps. They are knit from the cuff down and feature a two-color heel flap that is cleverly designed not to require any stranding on the purl side. You will manage floats with the ladderback jacquard method during the gusset to maintain the horizontal stripes without interruption. The second sock is mirrored—the triangles point the opposite direction.

This pattern uses the ladderback jacquard method during the gusset, which is similar to double knitting. Stitch-by-stitch instructions are provided in the written directions, but there are also a number of excellent tutorials available online if you get stuck. Try Googling “ladderback jacquard floats” to find tutorials.

Fingering weight sock yarn in four colors:
MC: 240yd / 60g
CC1: 160yd / 40g
CC2: 100yd / 25g
CC3: 100yd / 25g

You could also try using just one CC.

Gauge and Finished Measurements
This pattern is written for two sizes, but three gauges are provided for a total of six possible finished sizes:

• 9 stitches and 11 rows per inch in stranded colorwork for the following sizes: S (L): 7.75 (8.75)” foot and leg circumference.
• 8.5 stitches and 11 rows per inch in stranded colorwork for the following sizes: S (L): 8.25 (9.5)” foot and leg circumference.
• 8 stitches and 11 rows per inch in stranded colorwork for the following sizes: S (L): 8.75 (10)” foot and leg circumference.

Needles
US 1 / 2.25mm circular needles or set of DPNs (or size needed to obtain gauge).
If you work with circular needles, you will also need:
Two DPNs in the same size as your circular needles.
