This shawl pattern was inspired by a wooden canopy at the local train station. With pointed edges and cut out vertical lines it got me thinking about a design that would be the perfect accessory for the everyday commute or train trip.

One pattern - so many possibilities!

Meet Me at the Station was designed to use 1 skein of 100g / 400-425m of 4ply sock yarn. But it is really easy to adapt into a larger 2 or 3 skein pattern too - instructions are provided in the pattern.

The shawl is easy to work with the beginning part worked in stockinette stitch before a simple lace section completes the border.

This pattern works beautifully in a solid, or semi-solid yarn as it lets the lace pattern take centre stage.

Make it your own!

Using an 8 row rule (details in the pattern) there are lots of different ways that you can customize this shawl. Here are a few ideas:

  • Want more lace? Work a shallower body and start the lace earlier. You can even omit the stockinette section altogether and start the lace from row 4!
  • Want to show off your yarn? Work more of the stockinette body section before starting the lace.
  • Want to use a couple of colours? Knit the stockinette body section in one colour and then switch to another colour for the lace.
  • Want to use up scraps? Stripe the body / lace section by changing yarns every 2 or 4 rows.
  • Don’t like purling? Make every WS purl row a knit row!

This design is a quick and easy-to-remember pattern, making it ideal for gifts, or why not knit up a few in different colours!
