Meka Shawl
Meka is a simple light weight and cheery shawl that is fully reversible. The pattern uses a unique striping method with lots of garter and eyelet rows while creating directional lines through the work.
Meka is an easy knit, ideal for beginners to knit while learning a few more knitting techniques.
The shawl is knitted sideways with the no more than 83 stitches at any time, making each row quick to knit.
I thoroughly enjoyed designing Meka and I hope you enjoy knitting her up and wearing her!
Happy knitting!
MATERIALS
Yarn
2x 100g skeins, in two different colours in fingering weight (approx. 350m/380yards each yarn)
I used the beautifully soft handdyed 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon Sock yarn by Lolly Molly Sweets (as delicious as the name!)
Col A – 100g
Col B - 80g
Needles:
4mm (US 6) 80-100cm circular needles
Other Notions
stitch markers, stitch counter (optional) and tapestry needle
Gauge
23 stitches x 32 rows = 10cm/4inch (garter stitch)
Swatching is not super crucial for this shawl, but if
you generally have tight tension it would be best
to swatch just to be sure.
Measurements
Approx. 180cm/70inches long x 35cm/13.5inches (widest part)
Depending on the yarn you’re using the wrap
should stretch longer than these measurements
as the garter stitch is flexible.
