Meliora began as a way to use a skein of Mal sock that had thus far defied all other project attempts. It wanted to be a shawl and would not be happy any way else.

Meliora is worked from the top down switching between a stockinette stripe and several charted lace patterns incorporating nupps and beads.

Finished size: About 68 in. wide by 34 in. deep after blocking.

Materials needed:
Yarn: A generous estimate of 400 yds (366m) each MC and CC fingering weight yarn, or 800 yds if using one color.

Beads: 71 6/0 seed beads. (Optional: If you wish to substitute beads for the nupps, you will need 183 for Chart 3 only, and 225 for every nupp.)

Other: Stitch markers (optional), tapestry needle,
12/13 (1mm/.85mm) crochet hook or preferred beading tool.
