Mellon Mitts
Mitts with a twist - some cablework on the cuffs make for a snug fit, while the double layered technique saves you from knitting a thumb gusset.
I have rather large hands, so when I made these for myself, I used a 5-ply (sport weight) yarn. I am sure this would work just as well with a smaller needle size and fingering weight yarns for those of you who are on the more “feminine” side of hand sizes ;O)
08-Nov: After completing my third mitten, I keep thinking that you should just knit the whole thing in 2 x 2 rib - even the bottom layer on the hands.
So feel free to ignore the stockinette part and continue in 2 x 2 rib throughout. I think it will make knitting the top layer easier.

The stitch count is off in rounds 17-20 and 42-45.
It should read “ * k2, p2 * 6 times “ (instead of 8 times)

I used 1 ball of Lana Grossa Evento (160m/50g) but it was a very close call. Best have some extra yarn at hand - just in case.
You need to know:

cables over 3 and 4 stitches

Please let me know if you come across any errors in the pattern. It’s always tricky to knit first and then write the pattern from memory later, just because you didn’t even consider taking notes. After all, they were meant to be just for myself … ahem
