Melody and Lace Cape
This is a Shawl / Cape that is universal for adults and combines a number of stitches to create a large garment that makes a real statement.
Throughout the garment there are a number of hook size changes, increases as you work down the garment. This is to create the effect of loosening the stitches as it falls away from the shoulders.
It is an elegant mix of solid panels and lace.
You will need to be ok with Back Post stitches.
The yarn used is a WPI 9. In reality as this garment/piece has no seams you should be able to mix and match your hook sizes and yarn to suit your own preferences. This is a top down pattern and there is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to stop whenever you decide to.
I used 5 balls of the worsted weight yarn to complete the piece.
There are 2 versions of this garment. With the front panels which does up at the front, and a version without the front panels which serves only as a shawl.
As an alternative you can fold the shoulder panels in half and place a stich or two in the corners of the panel at the wrist end to create very loose fitting sleeves.
