Memento Shawlette
Faded photographs, ticket stubs, and pressed flowers…the Memento Crescent Shaped Lace Shawlette celebrates the sentimental memorabilia we collect that marks important events in our lives. I knit this shawlette in only 1 skein of Madelinetosh Pashmina Yarn in the “Fragrant” shade since this dusty rose color looked antiqued and romantic—perfect for cherished memories. It is a sport weight , 360 yards on the skein, and a high-quality blend of merino wool, silk, and cashmere. It has a “wingspan” of just over 6 feet…plenty of room to wrap around your shoulders or neck as either a shawl or a scarf, and is about a foot wide at its center, deepest point. The Shawlette features 2 different patterns, and is worked from the bottom up. The first pattern is a cable-look twist, and the second is a pressed flower lace. Together, they look like pressed flowers resting above the pages of an open book. After these 2 patterns are worked, short rows make up the body of the shawlette in garter stitch and give it its easy-to-wear crescent shape.
