Memories Of A Weaver
IMPORTANT NOTICE
My knitting style is very tight. Therefore, please make sure that the indicated gauge corresponds with your sample. Otherwise, I would recommend choosing smaller needles (1 or 1,5 number less) or, alternatively, thinner yarn such as sock yarn. Thank you so much and happy knitting!
As an enthusiastic (almost fanatic) knitter, I have been a member of Ravelry community for a number of years. Throughout this time, I have been asked to produce patterns for my designs many times but I never had the courage to dwell into the less creative and more technical/technological side of the process… However, everyone’s continuous support, lovely words and reassurance, encouraged me try! This is my first attempt to put my designs into words. I hope you will enjoy knitting this hat as much as I did. I am extremely open to any comments, requests and I will be happy to answer all of your questions!
I used 2ply Shetland Wool (from bobbins) for my colors.
Based on a traditional Lithuanian pattern that was personally passed on to me by an 80-year-old Lithuanian folk artist and weaver, the hat is knitted using stranded colour work also called Fair Isle technique. This design offers a contemporary take on old traditions, however, retains a certain element of folk-tale magic. Interweaving Earthly colours with modern shades, it presents a dialogue between generations and aims to give memories a tangible expression.
The hat is not difficult to make and will be an enjoyable project to undertake for anyone, not depending from the skill level. Its bright, playful and nature-inspired design is unisex and suits all ages, making it a great accessory to add to your closet, especially during the autumn months.*
