Memories of Mishka
To celebrate Mishka’s life and the fact this is my 300th pattern, this pattern will be free for now.
I started knitting this on my last day with Mishka - they were bittersweet moments - he was such a faithful good-natured dog and had been with us over 15 years - his life intertwined with that of all the children in the house.
As several people said:
Mishka loved everyone and
Everyone loved Mishka
After we’d said goodbye, I kept knitting and thinking of him. Somehow all those thoughts and memories are now knitted into the big 800m shawl.
That’s one of the nice things about making a big item with an easily remembered stitch - it’s soothing to knit and allows the mind to roam.
So why not grab some yarn and knit your own “Memories of …. “
You can use 400 - 800m of yarn - the more yardage you have the wider you can make the scarf - all calculated to be approx. 180cm/72” long.
Fingering or DK can work too (so I listed it as sport - in between the 2)
Here’s some blocking info you may find useful: link to blocking info
As one tester commented: This scarf required none of that hard blocking typical of lace, it looks lovely with a few little tugs and no pins.
I can highly recommend the Puno yarn I used - 800m and not a single knot - why can’t all yarns be produced to that standard ??? (some of the colourways are a bit strange, but the blues are gorgeous).
