Memory Keeper's Shawl
Your first pair of lace socks, that sweater you knit for your first born, that yarn you got while on holiday. All the memories, all the moments. Knit them all into this shawl and create a fiber scrapbook of your memories. Using a neutral color as a second yarn throughout the shawl creates a cohesive, calming look to the whole shawl so you don’t have to worry about the skeins matching. This shawl will look like you, like the projects you’ve knit in the past.
Easy to knit, this shawl is perfect for picking up here and there when new scraps appear. Or sit down for some relaxing TV knitting with your bag or jar of those precious left-overs.
Materials
- Yarn: 2 skeins of Aurinkokehrä undyed fingering weight yarn (100% wool; 359 m / 393 yds per 100 g) for your main color (carried throughout the shawl) or approx. 718 m / 785 yds of fingering weight yarn in a neutral color AND an equal amount of fingering weight scraps or miniskeins (approx. 718 m / 785 yds) in various colours
- Needles: 5 mm / US 8 circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge
- 2 stitch markers

Notes
This shawl is knit holding two strands of yarn throughout. One strand should be the same throughout the shawl. For this, I recommend using a neutral, solid colour. The other strand is always one of your scraps or miniskeins. The length of any of them does not matter, just make sure you have in total the same amount as you have of your main colour. When one scrap runs out, replace it with another. You can do this at any point in the pattern, even mid-row.
