Mended Hearts Shawl
They say that time heals all wounds, but I don’t think that’s quite true. The wounds might mend, but the scars remain. We learn to work with them and around them as they integrate into the fabric of our lives, periodic moments of texture that reminds us of what was.
The Mended Hearts Shawl is a wide triangle, perfect for snuggling under. It features solid sections broken up with rows of small heart-shaped textures. The texture repeats throughout the shawl, ending with a dramatic lace border. There are notes for customizing size, colors, and layout so you can create a shawl that’s exactly what you need.

Sample
Sample used Expression Fiber Arts Sparkle DK (DK weight; 60% sw merino/26% nylon/10% baby alpaca/4% metallic; 275yds/100g), 1100yds/400g in Elegant Hues
Yarn
The sample is shown in DK weight, but the pattern works in anything from a fingering to a bulky. It’s worked in a four-color set, but can be made in any number of colors. It’s adjustable to work with any yardage for a shawl of any size. It pairs best with colors that aren’t too variegated and yarns that don’t have much of a halo - too much variegation or halo will obscure the lace and texture.

Overview of the Finished Object
The Mended Hearts Shawl is a top down triangle, wide but not overly long. It has solid sections interspersed with lines of texture. There are a total of three solid sections before the edging. The edging has both lace and the same texture used in the body of the shawl and ends with a dramatic pointed border.
