Crocheters shouldn’t have to shy away from lace in their socks. The trick is making it work. This often means pairing the lace pattern with an extra-stretchy stitch such as linked half double crochet (lhdc). These socks feature a two-row lace stitch with a small repeat, which means they are perfect for customizing to your feet. I also used my favorite cuff, the single crochet through the back loop ribbed cuff, to give the lace a bit of structure and staying power on the leg. Make the leg as long as you want, maybe even creating a chic knee sock. These toe-up socks are worked with a modified wedge toe and strong heel.
Note
- In the Foot section, counts for round 1 (& ultimately rnd 3 as well) are actually, 11 (12, 13) dc; 11 (12, 13) chain-1 spaces (ch-1 sps); 22 (24, 26) lhdc.
- Counts for round 2 are actually, 10 (11, 12) crossed pairs; 1 dc; 22 (24, 26) lhdc.
