It was a hot and humid afternoon, the perfect time to dream about oceans and deep sea creatures and mermaids. What started as a lazy line of thought about what sort of shawl a mermaid would wear, and better still what a mermaid would knit for herself, soon became a series of sketches and calculations and ended with Mermade on the needles.

Mermade is an all-over lace, crescent shawl, in 3 sizes. It is knit
bottom-up using short rows for shaping and an i-cord bind off for
finishing.

2 (3, 3) skeins of Malabrigo Silky Merino; 51% silk, 49% merino
wool; 150 yds per 50g skein; colour: Green Gray 411
