The hook size doesn’t really matter, so long as you remember what hook size you are using, and keep it uniform for all of the clothing patterns as well

Worsted weight yarn is required, I really like using Red Heart Super Saver or Caron Simply Soft, because those are machine-washable and readily available to every crafter. You will need skin color, hair color, tail color, bikini color, and dress color(s).

Pattern comes with directions to make the mermaid doll (head, arms, tail, fins, built-in bikini undergarment) and a net-like dress for her to wear. It also comes with a quick tutorial for attaching hair.
