Mermaid eggs are made with Acrylic yarn but you easily could change it for cotton or any other mixed yarn, just will need to use different hook according to the yarn, eggs are crocheted in continued rounds, easy pattern for beginners as does not need gauge or to much material; also you do not need a whole skein as the pattern only used a couple of yards, no more leftover yarn!!
