Mermaid Fingerless Mittens
This pattern is
available for free.
Errors in pattern document:
Row 2 -- you should only have 3 scales at the end of Row 2.
Similarly Row 4 should have 1 half-scale, 2 whole scales, 1 half-scale.
Row 28 should read 2 half-scales.
This is a pattern for a pair of fingerless mittens with a decoration of mermaid scales. It was designed to go with a mermaid scales scarf.
Almost any lightweight sport yarn is suitable.
It would be helpful to understand how to do the mermaid scales before attempting this pattern because the scales are not done in the round and require decreases and special attention at the edges.
The mittens are worked in 4 parts.
- The mermaid scales
- The cuff
- The body of the mitten
- The thumb
