Mermaid in a Shell Playset
This pattern is 14 pages long and includes the instructions for 2 versions of the mermaid - firstly for a mermaid with a removable tail and legs underneath, and secondly for a mermaid with a fixed tail (and no legs). The mermaid can also be made using safety eyes or with embroidered closed eyes instead. The pattern also includes the instructions for the shell, her dress and a small fish friend. It contains loads of photos to help you every step of the way and it is written in American crochet terms.
You will need:
Yarn of your choice - yarn weight doesn’t really matter, the size of your mermaid will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used Patons Smoothie DK Yarn (this is quite a thick DK yarn so it is equivalent to aran or light worsted weight in other brands) and my finished mermaid is 18cm long (this includes her removable tail).
For the mermaid I used the following colours:
Pale pink, pale yellow, purple, dark pink, white and a small amount of dark yellow.
For the shell I used:
Cream.
For the fish & dress I used the following colours:
Dark yellow and red.
A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.
Toy stuffing.
A small amount of black and pink yarn or embroidery thread to use for the facial details.
A pair of safety eyes (I used 6mm black eyes). This is optional as the eyes can be embroidered.
Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and a stitch marker.
You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself. Thank you.
