But don’t you think wearing a pair of Mermaid mittens would be so much better? No needle pain or oozing or regrets when you’re 80 and you can brag that you made them yourself!!! Or just imagine the look on that favorite mermaid lover in your life when the you’ve knit them the perfect gift that will be cherished and worn until its worn out? You could even get creative and sew on a few sequins for some extra sparkle.

Mermaids are just amazing even if they are only tall tales from rum-soaked sailors. And thanks to Disney I don’t think they are going to lose their popularity anytime soon. This Mermaid mitten knitting pattern is recommended for intermediate knitters familiar with reading charts, stranded colorwork and duplicate stitch. The pattern is on a downloadable PDF and includes instructions and easy to follow design charts.

You can knit these mittens in any two contrasting colors in the yarn of your choice. The mittens pictured were knit using sock / fingering weight and 2.5mm needles for a women’s medium / teen size but you could easily adjust your needle size to make a bigger or smaller size mitten.

Mermaids on Mittens! Well why not?  They will go swimmingly well with a fisherman’s knit sweater. LOL!
