Mermaid Scarf
If you are a newer knitter, this could be your venture into learning yarn overs and knit 2 tog.-the basics of lace knitting!
I designed this pattern for my newbies class to go beyond knit & purl.
It is an easy 4 row pattern repeat, with only 2 pattern rows to keep track of.
If you put a “lifeline” in a knit row, if you make a mistake, you only need to “frog” back to your lifeline.
Knit on large needles, it will grow quickly and the loose, open look is perfect for summer.
I used a cotton blend and recommend a natural fiber for best drape.
My scarf was 6” wide and 70” long using about 175 yds. You could keep going and use all the yarn for a longer version.
My class is using a variety of yarns #3-#4’s and they all work well in this pattern.
